Beni Ourain rugs are woven from the natural dyed sheep wool that covers the sheep's body, the pattern is woven from the wool on the sheep's head, it looks black, but it is not, it is either dark brown, light brown, dark gray, or light gray. Sheep with jet black wool on their heads are rare.
